PB – Weekly Faceoff
You’ve seen the two wrestlers up top about to do damage but what exactly is the Weekly Faceoff. This is your chance to spout out about the upcoming big game. If you just happen to be first person to arrive there, you may be prompted to add your school’s mascot or insignia. It’s first come first serve after all. The other team will add their mascot or insignia as well for the upcoming game. There are a few things different about the Weekly Faceoff to keep in mind.
Most of the chatter on the site is tied to either your school, your fantasy league, or your teammates. Weekly Chatter is different. Anything you put there can be read by your school and by competing school’s fans and players. Some games in high school sports are one-offs but we all have those rivalries where everyone gets fired up. This is the place to talk junk and size up the other team’s dedication…errr… level of crazy for their team. Nothing like a little gasoline on the fire for that upcoming game to get everyone in the right frame of mind. The Chatter section under Weekly Faceoff is the place to do this. Obviously, keep within the rules of play for language but we’re thinking you can come up with some serious junk talk without having to go there. First thoughts, go after their reverse Bieber haircuts.
You’ll also notice something new on the Weekly Faceoff page that will start to creep up across the site, especially on the Channel page. You’re able to vote on the upcoming game, once per day and the vote is maintained for the week. The other team also gets to vote on the outcome of the game so unless their school is just much bigger, you need to rally everyone to show some heart. We have scientifically studied the correlation between vote tallies on the Weekly Faceoff page and the eventual game outcome and there is a 90% match. We just made that all up but you still need to step up. You can click on your mascot to vote and you’ll see the tally change. You’re allowed to vote once per day until the system resets for the next game so vote early and vote often.
This ability to vote on different things from game outcomes to mascots mayhem shots, favorite kicks, etc is a part of the community we’re actively building out right now. Our first goal was obviously fantasy league and we’re getting that out from the start but you can expect to find more nonsense on the Channel page going forward and this includes the Weekly Faceoff. We’ll keep you posted of updates through the ticker message when you login and definitely feel free to send up any ideas of what you want there. This is, after all, your high school sport community. We’re just paying the electric bills. Any recommendations to showcase YouTube video’s of cats wearing football helmets will be immediately discarded depending on how funny the cats are.
